Night Life in the City

By Gia Dinicola, Spring 2009

Looking for something new and exciting to do on a Thursday night (besides your dissertation, silly) that con-sists of live music, cocktails, food and…science?!? Then NightLife, at the recently reopened California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, is for you.

Every Thursday until October 29, between the hours of 6-10pm, you can sip, munch, boogie and get yourself educated on sea-life, planets and albino crocodiles. Tickets are $10 ($8 for Academy members). It can get busy, and the planetarium shows often sell out quickly, so get your tickets online and get there early. The last entry is 9 p.m. There is parking under the building for around $10.

For more information on activities and performances for each week check out www.calacademy.org/events/nightlife/.

Considering that daytime general admission for adults in normally $24.95, this looks to be a great alternative for students wanting to check out the Academy at graduate student prices! Also, don’t forget free admission on the third Wednesday of every month –ed.
