So Much to Do…

By Katherine McCarthy, Summer 2011

As the semester winds down and we prepare for finals, take some time for yourself to do something fun, relaxing, or just plain silly.

Massages can be pricey, but the National Holistic Institute in downtown San Francisco has prices that can’t be beat. Not only can you get a cheap massage, but you can help students accrue their hours for massage therapy training. The cost is $30 per massage on weekdays before 6 p.m. During evenings and weekends, the standard rate is $35.

Nail salons with spa pedicure tubs are hard to come by in San Francisco, but KT Nails is a great place for all of your mani/pedi needs (guys, too!). Make an appointment or just walk in, and you won’t be disappointed with the service. They also offer 10 minute massages for $10.

Whether you’re in the mood for jazz, blues, hip hop, rock, punk, funk, or indie, SF Weekly has it covered. You can search for free or low cost music events anywhere in the city. http://www.sfweekly.com/events/music/

Flashback to the 80s. The CatClub in SOMA has themed events Tuesdays through Sundays, and my favorite is 80s night on Thursdays. There’s no cover before 9:30pm and well drinks are $1 until 10pm.

To reconnect with your inner child, jump around at House of Air, an indoor trampoline park located in the historic airplane hangar in West Crissy Field. They offer open trampoline jump time, aerial and physical training on trampolines, trampoline dodgeball and basketball, and fitness classes. Be sure to make reservations because they sell out 2-3 days in advance.
