Announcing the Student Development Scholarship

By Katharine Thomson, Spring 2009

The Student Government Association is pleased to announce a new student reimbursement program. Formerly known as the Conference Reimbursement Fund, the goal of the new Student Development Scholarship is to support students’ efforts toward professional and/or educational advancement. The scholarship has been designed to support Alliant students interested in attending any forum of professional development (e.g. conference, workshop, presentation, CEU).

A committee of SGA members will review applications and reward scholarships of $100-200 to more than 20 students each semester. For your application to be considered, the event content must focus on at least one of the following areas of development:

  • Leadership
  • Government and/or policy related to the student’s field of study
  • Clinical/teaching/business/management skill development
  • Multicultural awareness
  • Topic related to the student’s Ph.D. project or dissertation

Applications must include a typed, one-page, double-spaced description of the event, what you hope to gain by attending and the area of development it covers. Also required are a brochure, flyer or advertisement for the event. Students who are awarded the scholarship will be asked to submit a short paragraph to the SGA newsletter to describe their learning experiences at the event.

Stay tuned to your Alliant e-mail for application details.
